    • The flat top that started everything

      In 1858, Louis Vuitton made the top of a trunk flat. Every trunk before it had a domed lid to shed rain, which meant none of them could be stacked, which meant every traveller left home with less than they needed. Flat trunks stacked. What a person could take with them changed overnight. This bag exists to solve the same thing: the freedom to carry everything you need, without giving up style or presence.

      Most totes are heavy before you put anything in them. Thick leather, stiff linings, hardware everywhere, and you feel all of it by mid-afternoon, moving the bag from one shoulder to the other, then carrying it in your hand because your shoulder gave up.
